# 3 - The Earliest Mesoamerican Culture - The Olmecs

As far back as 1500 BC the Olmec Indians of Mesoamerica linked Psilocybin with the big cats (Lions in Europe & Jaguars in Mesoamerica & Tigers in Asia) This Olmec artwork shows the Jaguar with the symbol of the “bell” of Psilocybin around its neck.  Because of the association in visual similarity bells have universally been linked to heavens bell.  This is the reason why the prophet Zechariah wrote “In that day there will be inscribed on the bells of the horses.  “HOLY TO THE LORD.”
In this early map (lower right) we see two species of Psilocybin, one with a Jaguar head—possibly the Landslide species Psilocybe caerulescens.  The other species with a bird on it—no doubt the “little bird” mushrooms talked so fondly of by Maria Sabina—a species know as Psilocybe mexicana. The Eagle, chosen perhaps because it is the mightiest of the birds just as the Jaguar was the king of the forest.  Here the Eagle holds the symbolic sea shell—the Scallop.  Universally used like the Bell to represent Psilocybin in public display without giving away its esoteric meaning.  The tell tail sign is the way the shell curves back on itself just like the actual mushrooms do.  Natural Scallop shells do not do this… Besides the ribs of a scallop look like gills which add to this shells universal choice…

The Olmec had two religious camps—the priests dedicated to the Way predominately taught by the Mushrooms and the priests of the Feathered Serpent or Morning Glory.  Here we see a shaman priest sitting in a spiritual serpent, the basket held in hand and the symbolic basket above represent the containers in which these Morning Glory seeds were held.  The most basic symbol for these LSD like seeds of what the Aztecs called “Green Snake Plant” is a an “x” in a square.  You could say “X” marks the spot if you were a pirate, or you could say “X & Y” if you enacting a ColdPlay comment.  In either case the archeological evidence for the existence of both Psilocybin and the hallucinogenic Morning Glories among the Olmec is testified by the “Pot Shard Record.”  You see the Olmec were no dummies they knew they could sell their religions sacraments (shocker) to their neighbors.  The pot shards were found to be either “Ware-Jaguar” pots or across the valley were “Fire Serpent” potshards.  Even though there is a long standing disagreement between the Mushroom Priesthood and the Morning Glory Priesthood, there was certainly plenty of priests who walked on both sides of the spiritual aisle—the right and the left handed path as you will see.

This Olmec clay figure head clearly belonged to the Feathered Serpent or Morning Glory camp—as the serpent tendril is set over the ajna chakra or third eye.  Interestingly, this third eye location is set in front of the Pineal Gland, that unique sensing organ that sets the circadian rhythms and is responsible for the internal signal to start or nocturnal dreams (see Melatonin).  The grin gives suspicion to the wary spectator...  Incidentally, the Pineal Gland derives its name from the pine cone which it is similar in shape too, a symbolic link that will show up again and again in various cultures.  Because Morning Glories like LSD contain a short circuit mechanism or "Credit Card Chemistry" they provide massive Serotonin up front but later depletion of 5HTP can result in massive failures of spiritual logic or heart smart reasoning - ie cutting out hearts on temples...

Incidentally, I took this shot in the British Museum - A totally amazing place once you know your symbols... Next we will examine the Teotihuacan culture and follow the tracks of these three mysterious chemistry's as they first form and then perhaps destroy the culture which built the largest pyramid in the New World...

God Bless Each & Every One Of You-
